Media Filters, sometimes referred to as Sand Filters, are filled with a bed of fine particle sand, zeolite or glass which is used to filter the pool water as it circulates through the system, removing fine dirt, debris and algae in the process. Media filters have an in-built 'backwash' function making it simple, easy and convenient to clean the filter.
Cartridge filters are a simple, compact and cost-effective solution to keep your pool water clean and clear. Cartridge filters contain a replaceable filtration element inside the housing that filters the water removing dirt, and fine debris as the water circulates through the system. They are easy to install and don’t require backwashing like a media filter, which means they also minimise water losses from your pool. They require slightly more maintenance than a media filter as the filtration element needs to be cleaned every 2-3 months.
